Uhh. I love Geet's idea.
But I think there should be some sort of human check before uploading to the map. One could maybe see the newly made road over Google satellite images, and write what kind of road it is.
But maybe the speed is to high. You wouldn't get any city roads in Denmark, or any road-turns in all the world ;D

Hello together,
I'm new to the project and fascinated to see that this is getting real. My idea was to set up a open platform device to develop a open DASH.
Meaning to navigate with just sharing speed and location.
With this two informations it is possible to find the best rout at all times and to adjust on the fly if something happens.
Excample: You and some others are on a main road where you drive at an average speed of 90 km/h (I'm German, do you know why we call a quaterpounder royal with chees.....). In front of you happens an exident. Your speed reduces to zero, as well as the speed of the cars around you. The system knows that something is wrong with this road and calculates a new road for all other users who where ment to use this road.
Even without road information in the first place it would be possible to build a map database with the information provided my all participants. Where some people drive with a minimum speed must be a road.
The system dash goes further and works together with yahoo local search to deliver all kind of information you might need on your trip.
I think the openmoko is the right device to develop this application for everybody and not only for paying dash clients.
Looking foreward to get it up and running.
By the way I have studied math but am quite out of the programming.
But I will try me best to support as much as possible
